Audio Visual & Low Voltage Design
Who is This For?
Low Voltage systems like Audiovisual, Security, and Communications systems will be required for every workspace project. We work directly with clients and through our design & construction partners to bring clarity, savings, and better systems to your project. Our unique process delivers better results, and cost savings.
When Does This Happen?
You will want to start your low voltage design process at the same time you are developing electrical and mechanical systems. We are typically engaged at the same time you are engaging other consultants for your project.
How Long Does it Take?
Our defined process varies in length depending upon the complexity of the project, however, for most low voltage projects our design phase is completed within 3 weeks. The client stakeholder group will be asked to participate in 3-4 online meetings, ideally no longer than 30 minutes each.
What are The Deliverables?
Our LVS Document (Low Voltage Specification) is our key deliverable. It is the sum of our process and captures stakeholder input. Our LVS summarizes the purpose and intent, scope of work and bill for materials for the low voltage design and then articulates all critical information in a set of detailed drawings.
Process Step 1: Stakeholder Engagement
Stakeholder Engagement is the most important part of the process. This is where your team’s critical input is captured and where we really start to understand your business. This information is critical to begin the process of designing systems you will love. We host a guided conversation that explores each workspace, your larger communications strategy, different types of work and how technology can support those objectives.
Process Step 2: Concept Development
After our stakeholder meeting, our technical designers will begin the concept development. After the concept is fully formed, we will schedule a second meeting to review the concept in detail. During this meeting we will review the key business objectives from our first meeting and then outline how the proposed systems will address the business and functional needs. We will also present initial budget guidance based upon manufacturer suggested pricing.
Process Step 3: Final Design
After our concept review meeting, our designers will take away the feedback their receive and integrate it into a final system design. Our 3rd meeting will review the final design with integrated feedback and further refined budget and schedule estimates. At the end of meeting 3, we will ask stakeholders to endorse the design so that detailed documentation can begin.
Process Step 4: Documentation
After stakeholders have endorsed the final design concept, our technical designers will then develop the complete documentation package we call a LVS (Low Voltage Specification) required to
(a) solicit competitive bids from integrators and
(b) coordinate construction trades so that onsite work can begin.
Can you Supply and Install Also?
Forte is a low voltage design consulting company. Our role is to lead your through a structured conversation that helps to define your needs and wants. We don’t supply and install, but we can introduce you to a number of trusted companies who can.
What Do your Services Cost?
Our consulting fees vary by project and are based upon the type, size, and number of spaces we are designing for. Consulting Engagement start for as little as $750. We can build a fee proposal based upon a simple floor plan and can turn it around for you in as little at 8 hours.
